...came across these fun audiotape sets by the lebanese artist Akram Zaatari. it's funny how cassette tapes seem so retro now...but at the same time it doesnt seem that long a go since i bought my first roxette tape, and spent hours crafting the perfect two sided mix tapes...oh nostalgia...

...another rainy day in seattle, which called for crafty time and hours of documentaries. in the mix i watched andy warhol's "factory people" for the 10th time, which led to the fun discovery of the japanese pop-art artist Yayoi Kusama, also known as the polka dot princess...just fell in love with her avant-garde dots and creations...tomorrow looking forward to jake & silOHs playing live on kexp, and i'll join in to capture it all on film. so set your radio to 90.3 FM (if in seattle)at 12pm PST, or listen at http://www.kexp.org. ...i'm all about bows this spring, and an occasional peak at vintage sport illustrated issues or perhaps a mexican wrestling magazine...tonight, relaxing inside in a rainy seattle, with a big bowl of couscous and the newest episode of project runway, ...aw almost the weekend!!!

…just saw the celebratory speech of speaker of the house nancy pilosi and president obama on passing the health care bill…wow…has it been a day full of bickering and political games... it’s just hard for a scandie, to listen to the right-wing putting a price on ones health and shoving moral agendas up everyone’s face. the bill is far from perfect, but i have a feeling the democrats are being pragmatic and know it will be a work in progress. i’m disappointed there is no public option, but apparently it's giving 32 new million americans access to more affordable care. this sounds great to start with, but adding on a mandate is questionable, unless there is some serious backing to help low income families. not to mention giving the insurance companies a whole new pool of customers promoted by the federal government...ah!!! i do like getting rid of the evil pre-existing conditions rule, as well as children being able to stay on their parents health care for a few more years...so first round of health care reform down for now, but many more to come, and hoping to see something a bit more progressive for the future…
